The present review will only deal with some recent advances in solar magnetic fields with emphasis on work that has mainly been done with the video magnetograph systems at Huairou Solar Observing Station of Beijing Astronomical Observatory, including intranetwork magnetic elements, quiet regions in the chromosphere, high-resolution observations of the polar magnetic fields, magnetic nonpotentiality (magnetic shear, vertical current and current helicity) in active regions and toplogy structures of 3-D magnetic fields.
