Published experimental and theoretical results are the bases of the present calculation of the Rayleigh scattering cross section for air, which takes account of the dispersion of the King (1923) correction factor. The 0.2-1.0 micron wavelength region is covered. Accurate values of air's Rayleigh scattering cross section are needed in connection with the calculation of the rate of photodissociation of molecular oxygen by solar radiation in the Herzberg continuum.
