The Fokker-Planck equation describing the diffusion of a quasi-monochromatic wave packet in a plane-stratified statistically irregular medium is derived from equations of spatial-temporal geometric optics. An analysis is then made of ray statistics for the model of a nondispersive medium that is regular on the average, whose fluctuations are characterized by a regular stationary random field with a Gaussian correlation function.
