Scientific paper
A rare bright outburst of the cataclysmic variable DO Dra is reported. Previous bright outbursts were reported to the AAVSO in March 1988 and September 1990; each outburst lasted 5 days and the star reached approximately visual magnitude 10.0. Minor, faint (to magnitude 14.0-14.5) outbursts have also been reported. The outburst behavior suggests that DO Dra may be an SU UMa type dwarf nova, although the 5-day duration of outbursts is too short for superoutbursts. CCD observations every 3 to 5 minutes are requested to search for superhumps.
