IN NATURE of Feb. 9, F. Rasetti has published his observations on the
Raman effect in carbon dioxide. He has found the lines at λ4639,
λ4616 and λ4289, λ4268, excited respectively by the
mercury lines at λ4358.343 and λ4046.560. These modified
lines are due to the following transitions:
