The data and the methods used in the prediction of radioactivity, induced in spaceborne gamma ray spectrometers by the space radiation environment are reviewed. Due to large masses of current the application of particle transport codes are required. The results from such codes are given for scintillator detectors. Calculations and irradiation data are presented for germanium and bismuth germanate.
