Several transient accreting millisecond X-ray pulsars are known to emit synchrotron emission when in the outburst state.. Three (SAX J1808.4-3658, XTE J1814-338 and HETE J1900.1-2455) are known to emit type I thermonuclear X-ray bursts during outburst. We have evidence that these bursts may trigger synchrotron emission extending briefly to optical wavelengths. We seek ATCA time to measure radio emission from these systems during outburst as part of a multi-wavelength campaign, from radio to X-rays, to study the time dependence of the synchrotron emission spectrum. The observations will be made on a NAPA basis triggered by detection of a type I burst by the RXTE spacecraft. If our conclusions are correct, accreting millisecond pulsars join the ranks of the so-called micro-quasars and offer a new opportunity for the study of jet emission in accreting systems on all scales from stellar to galactic.
