Close Binaries: Radio Radiation
Scientific paper
The authors give an account of the current status of knowledge concerning the radio emission characteristics of active close binary stars of the RS CVn and Algol types. In recent years evidence has been accumulating for the existence of preferred longitudes for the location of quiescent emission regions in these objects. Commonly these regions are associated with the centroid axis of the binary system which may indicate an additionsl factor (magnetic or gravitational) on the generation of radio active regions.
