Procedures for calculating the optical characteristics of the mean components and effective fluxes of the atmosphere of Venus are presented, and some theoretical results are compared with the available experimental data and other atmospheric optics models. Attention is given to the problem of correctly estimating the absorption spectra of the main gaseous components (CO2, H2O, and SO2) at their respective temperatures, pressures, and abundances. It is shown that the conditions of thermal equilibrium in the undercloud atmosphere of Venus correspond to a water vapor adundance of about 0.0001. Some possible sources of error in the theoretical calculations are discussed.
