The authors consider the inhomogeneous universe model of C.W. Kim et al. (1996). The scale factor R in the universe is dependent on the radial distance, r, as well as the cosmic time, t, because of the inhomogeneity. This behavior is different from that of the standard universe. They study the radial equation of motion of light in an inhomogeneous universe and, in some case, identify the equation with the Riccati equation wherein the general form of the scale factor R(t, r) is determined by using Einstein's theory of general relativity. Solutions are given in analytic form and are compared with those for a homogeneous universe. The luminosity distance-redshift relation and the age problem of the universe are discussed.
