The origin of coherent-dot radar angels has long been debated. Some researchers feel that the angels are predominantly particulate matter carried aloft by the winds. Others are of the opinion that many of the echoes are meteorologically induced. To aid in the analysis of possible meteorological sources of dot angel echoes, relations for the general bi-static radar cross-section of the foremost meteorological model are developed. The beam width of the radiation reflected by the model is then shown to be extremely small.
