This paper considers the diffraction model of an adaptive telescope whose aperture consists of seven hexagons closely abutting one another. It is shown that not only the average value of the wave aberration but also its shape exerts a significant influence on the image quality. The effect on the image of different aberrations associated with displacements and tilts of the subapertures is analyzed.
