A spectral time series analysis for the 20th and 21st solar cycles shows that the variations of various geoheliophysical characteristics have three basic periods less than 11 years; approx. two years, approx. one year, and approx. five months; the quasi-biennial variations are the most intense. Variations of the frequency of solar proton events and galactic cosmic rays are basically in counterphase. The period of quasi-biennial variations in the 21st cycle is shorter than that in the 20th cycle.
