New theoretical calculations of the total profile of the atomic hydrogen Balmer alpha spectral line perturbed by collisions with protons and neutral hydrogen have been made using accurate theoretical molecular potentials to describe the interaction between radiator and perturber. We point out the possible existence of quasi-molecular features due to H-H+ and H-H. Measurements of the main ones in the spectrum of a plasma confirm the theoretical predictions.
