We consider the influence of quantum interference on the state of thermodynamic equilibrium between atoms and the photon gas. We show, that this interference leads to nonzero non-diagonal elements of the atomic density matrix. These elements in turn modify the emissivity of the medium, which acquires a zero point at a certain frequency and has a red wing with higher intensity.
