Absolute photoabsorption and relative fluorescence cross sections for SO2 have been measured in the 188-231 and 278.7-320 nm regions using an argon miniarc light source. The absorption cross sections have been measured with an accuracy of +/- 3.1 percent; the most probable error for the fluorescence cross section is +/- 4.6 percent. The fluorescence quantum yields for SO2 have also been obtained in the two spectral regions.
