Pulsed disturbances of the ionosphere appearing during periods of near thunderstorms have been observed on the basis of Doppler sounding data obtained at the Vanovskii station (37 deg N). Qualitatively similar ionospheric disturbances have been recorded at moments of seismic jolts. The observed effects are associated with the action of nonstationary electric fields of thunderstorm or seismic origin on the ionosphere.
