The possibility is analyzed of using a spectrographic technique for studying cosmic-ray variations that incorporates data obtained by underground observations. A system of spectrographic equations is presented which can be used to analyze the properties of the cosmic-ray spectrum in the high-hardness region, changes in the hardness of the geomagnetic cutoff, and to determine the spectrum of variations within the earth in the low-hardness region.
