X-ray sources in the Galactic plane represent a variety of exotic populations. Surprisingly, most bright low-latitude X-ray sources are still unidentified, but presumably correspond to some mixed population of pulsar wind nebula, supernova remnants, young stars, high mass X-ray binaries, magnetars and pulsars. To derive the birth-rates, lifetimes and distributions of these populations, we have been combining new Chandra observations with archival X-ray data to localise > 100 low-latitude ASCA sources. Using multi-wavelength survey data and new observations in the radio, optical and infrared we are able to identify these relatively rare sources. Here we propose for ATCA observations of two candidate PWNe that we have recently identified through the detection of Chandra and XMM X-ray counterparts to radio nebula seen in survey data. These proposed observations will allow us to resolve the radio emission, map the morphologies, search for polarisation and derive spectral index information ultimately confirming the nature of these X-ray sources as PWNe. These investigations will aid in our understanding of this population while characterising the overall distribution of X-ray sources in our galaxy.
