The propagation of jets from young stars is partly controlled by optically-thin radiative cooling. Jets in this regime have recently been made in the laboratory by laser-ablating a plasma from a concave conical surface. We compare the laboratory results, and detailed numerical plasma physics calculations, with results of a standard astrophysical hydrodynamics code.
