Evidence that a significant fraction of the gravity mode power density in the total irradiance observations appears in sidebands of classified eigenfrequencies is discussed. These sidebands whose amplitudes vary from year to year are interpreted as harmonics of the rotational frequencies of the nonuniform solar surface. These findings are for nonaxisymmetric modes and corroborate the findings of Kroll, Hill, and Chen (1988) for axisymmetric modes. It is demonstrated that the generation of the sidebands lifts the usual restriction on the parity of the eigenfunctions for modes detectable in total irradiance observations.
