We consider the effect of converging photospheric motions acting upon a
sheared cylindrically-symmetric line-tied arcade. The motions drive a
reconnection process whereby a helical structure is formed, in which
cool, dense plasma may accumulate at the lowest points of the helical
windings thus creating a prominence.
