Class II methanol masers are uniquely associated with young massive stars, but is is unclear the extent to which the sources exciting methanol masers represent a homogenous or heterogenous sample of objects. Currently we have a only a limited understanding of the range of environments in which these masers occur and the sources which excite them. In this proposal we request time to carry a survey of a large, complete sample of methanol masers from the Methanol MultiBeam (MMB) Survey to investigate the properties of the molecular gas associated with these sources. We will do this by taking high spectral resolution spectra of a range of molecular transitions in the 41 GHz to 49 GHz band towards each source using Mopra. The lines in this band provide probes of a range of physical conditions in these objects, allowing us to look for possible evolutionary and environmental differences between the sources.
