Sulfur hexafluoride can be prepared quantitatively and in a pure state
from elemental sulfur and many sulfide minerals by the reaction with
bromine trifluoride. The gas is very suitable for measurements of small
differences in stable sulfur isotope ratios. The method has some
advantages over those used at present.
