Some of the principal preliminary results of a two-frequency occultation of the nighttime Venusian atmosphere are plotted and discussed. The data were obtained in October 1975, the radio occultation being carried out by Venera 9 while Venera 10 was used to obtain simultaneous comparative measurements of the behavior of the electron concentration along the communication link. By conducting measurements of this type, it proved possible to eliminate the influence of the earth's ionosphere on the measurement of the ionosphere parameters and to reduce substantially the influence of the interplanetary plasma.
