Earth Radiation Belts, Earth Radiation Belts: Models
Scientific paper
At the present time, long-period predictions of the fluxes of relativistic electrons in the Earth's radiation belts (ERB) at energies of 0.3 - 7 MeV are based on numerical models. However, the numerical models do not incorporate a number of experimental data pertaining to certain features in the electron spectra, such as the dependence of electron fluxes on geomagnetic activity, Dst-variations, and solar wind speed. Based on these data, the authors can supplement the existing models and predict ERB electron fluxes on time-scales of order two weeks.
