The dielectronic recombination (DR) theory of Bell and Seaton (1985) is utilized to study the field enhancement (FE) of the DR rate over the whole Rydberg spectrum. The dependence of FE-DR on the principal quantum number and field strength is illustrated with an atomic model. Interference effects are analyzed and it is observed that they reduce the enhancement for interacting manifolds. It is noted that FE-DR results from the competition between radiative decay and autoionization of eigenstates as a function of field strength.
