A simple and precise method for measuring the gas gain of a Multi-Wire Proportional Chamber with cosmic rays is described. The wave-forms of the signals induced on a cathode plane by the avalanches produced by a large sample of cosmic rays were acquired by a digital oscilloscope and averaged. A numerical integration of the observed signals allows to evaluate the average charge collected by the cathode for a single crossing cosmic ray, while the corresponding number of primary electrons was calculated with Garfield. From these two quantities the gas gain of the chamber was evaluated for high-voltages of the anode wire plane in the range 2.6 - 2.9 kV. The results obtained are in good agreement with those obtained with a more sophisticated method which use a 1.3 GBq 137Cs source.
