The results of a visual frequency analysis of geomagnetic micropulsation records are compared with computed power spectra for four separate samples of data. The comparison shows that apparently dominant components in the record are associated with regions of the spectrum containing significantly greater amounts of power than neighbouring regions, and so confirms the validity of the visual analysis. A somewhat special interpretation of the spectrum is necessary if the data are non-stationary statistically.
