The effects of the background radiation field on the populations of CO-molecule rotational levels in molecular clouds of galaxies with large redshifts are considered. The kinetic temperature and gas concentration regions are taken to be typical for molecular clouds of our Galaxy: 102 ⪉ N(H2)(cm-3) ⪉ 106, 20 ⪉ Tk(K) ⪉ 100. The effect of the background radiation field has been studied in the redshift interval 1 ⪉ z ⪉ 5. It has been shown that the effect is essential even for N(H2) < 104cm-3 and is predominant for N(H2) = 102 - 103cm-3.
