Firstly, this article summarizes the principle of pointing calibration for the radio telescope and compares the two methods of software correcting. Secondly, this article expatiates the process of pointing calibration for the 40m radio telescope in Yunnan Astronomical Observatory. The conclusion of this experiment is that the pointing accuracy for the 40m radio telescope can achieve the observational requirement.
