A set of large-scale phenomena exposures of Comet Halley between January 5 and 10, 1986 is investigated. Within this period a disruption of the comet's plasma tail occurred. The elbow of the disrupted plasma tail observed on Jan. 10 moved from the nucleus at a mean radial velocity of 67 + or - 4 km/sec. The disruption started not more than 1 day before its detection on January 10. This disconnection event is studied in relation to the solar wind flow and the interplanetary magnetic field. It is impossible to say what caused the disruption.
