Scientific paper

Plasma research programs sponsored by the Physical Research Laboratory at Ahmedabad, India are reviewed. Topics of the investigations include the cross-field and two-stream instabilities in a weakly ionized plasma, nonlinear wave behavior in a collisionless plasma, the interaction of high-density plasma with a neutral gas cloud, and electron trapping and nonadiabatic escape in magnetic mirror fields. The experimental investigations are related to studies of such phenomena as electrojet instability and solar wind-comet interactions.
