Consideration is given to the plasma maser theory of ordinary mode radiation in a magnetized plasma containing a low frequency ion cyclotron wave excited by a current along the applied magnetic field. Results are presented from calculations of the nonlinear force arising from the resonant interaction between electrons and the modulate electric fields caused by coupling between the coherent ion cyclotron wave field and the ordinary mode wave field. The results show that the mechanism requires the presence of a low frequency wave to amplify a high frequency wave. It is suggested that this mechanism may be responsible for the generation of Jupiter's kilometric radiation.
