Solar type II and type III bursts and their associated plasma disturbances are investigated. These events occurred on 6 Jan. 1994 and 30 Sep. 1993 and may be connected to NOAA/USAF active regions 7646 and 7590 respectively. It is found that type II bursts probably involve particle beams but their primary physical origin is shock waves. However, particle beams associated with type II solar bursts have velocities much smaller than those for type III bursts. The plasma density enhancement due to plasma disturbances associated with these bursts are by a factor of 36 and 16 respectively. The duration of geomagnetic disturbance seems to be related to the plasma density enhancement. More analysis is required to establish the relationship of geomagnetic disturbance with solar plasma disturbances associated with the bursts.
