Theoretical treatments of radio pulsars have yielded a consistent view of the physical processes present in the magnetosphere of a neutron star, explaining the deceleration of neutron star rotation, the release of rotational energy in active regions, and the generation of plasma and directed radio emission. The present work is a methodical presentation of this theoretical framework. The ultimate physical basis for the complex processes of the pulsar magnetosphere is found to be the fast rotation of a strongly magnetized conducting body, namely the neutron star.
