It is pointed out that the study of the relativistic stellar structures involves a solution of Einstein's field equations. Oppenheimer and Volkoff (1939) have obtained the first computed solution of these equations (for degenerate neutron gas). The considered procedure fails, however, to provide a simple picture of the internal structure of the configuration. For obtaining a clear picture of the interior, an exact solution should be obtained of the Einstein's gravitational field equations, and the results should be used to construct a stellar model. A number of exact solutions are available. Objectives of the present investigation are concerned with a test of the suitability of the exact solutions, a simple procedure to obtain new exact solutions, and a modification of the equation of hydrostatic equilibrium. It is shown that, with the exception of the solution discussed by Durgapal and Rawat (1980), no analytical solution can satisfy the tests of physical reality.
