The pressure, density, acoustic velocity, concentration, density scale, mean free path, viscosity, mean particle velocity, collision frequency and column density of the Venus atmosphere have been calculated from Pioneer measurements made from December 4 to 9, 1978. Determinations of Venus surface temperature and pressure, ground level atmospheric composition, atmospheric molecular weight and atmospheric temperature distribution between the surface and 200 km were utilized in the program of Pitts (1968) to derive a new model of the Venus atmosphere. In the present paper, variations of atmospheric pressure, mass density, number density and acoustic velocity with altitude, determined from the Pioneer measurements are illustrated and compared with those determined by Venera 8 and 9. Differences in the values of these parameters above 100 km are noted and attributed to variations in measured temperature distributions.
