The physical conditions in the distant nebular envelope around the interacting binary RY Sct are investigated on the basis of high-dispersion spectrograms obtained with 1.5- and 6-m reflectors. The equivalent widths and the radiative emission fluxes for some recombination lines (H and He) and forbidden lines (N, O, Ne, S, and Fe) are presented. Anomalies of the nebular envelope's chemical composition are analyzed. Nuclear reactions of burning H in the CNO cycle are argued to account for the observed anomalies (the excess of He and N and the deficiency of O with respect to H).
