A discussion of the infrared and optical photometric variability of the premain sequence stars BF Ori and UX Ori is presented. In the former case, the reddening that occurs during decline, at both optical and infrared wavelengths, is consistent with variable extinction by circumstellar grains having an interstellarlike reddening law. In the case of UX Ori, the data suggest variability due to starspots. In both cases, a study of the polarimetric variability would be valuable to confirm these conclusions.
