Light and color curves of QU Vul (Nova Vul 1984-2) are drawn on the basis of observations performed between 1984 and 1990. Unpublished observations are also reported. QU Vul is classified as a fast nova, having a rate of decline of 0.09 mag/d. The maximum was attained on December 25, 1984, with V = 5.5 and B = 6.25. A color excess of +0.5, due to interstellar extinction, is adopted. The spectroscopic material obtained at Asiago from 1984 to 1990 is analyzed. The nova has followed the behavior predicted by the TNR process, reaching the nebular stage very likely by the beginning of April 1985. The principal feature observed in the Asiago spectra was the very high strength of the collisionally excited lines of Ne, from Ne III to Ne V. The helium abundance and a lower limit of the neon and oxygen content in the ejecta are also determined.
