Europium-doped SrO-B2O3-P2O5 and SrMoO4 phosphors for application in white LEDs sources were synthesized and characterized. Photoluminescence spectra showed intense blue and red emissions after UV excitation which can be ascribed to Eu2+ and to Eu3+ respectively. The shape of the blue emission in samples was correlated to the existence of different phases in the Eu2+ doped samples as pointed out by X-ray diffraction Moreover, γ- irradiation tests were performed on some samples in order to explore possible effects by X-ray diffraction, photoluminescence emission spectra and luminescence decay kinetics after short pulse excitation.
