We present phase-resolved spectra from a 30 ksec RXTE-obervation of Vela X-1. We created 16 phase-bins to study the evolution of the spectral parameters over the pulse. The NPEX (Negative Positive EXponential) model (Mihara, 1995) was used to fit the data, other models either did not work or had too many free parameters. A cyclotron absorption line at ~50 keV is present, expecially in the falling flank of the main pulse, but is also clearly detected in the secondary pulse. However, it is barely present between the two pulses.
