Perturbations of a satellite orbit, caused by gravitational forces, are due to distortions of the (ideal) central force field. The distortions are caused not only by the presence of other celestial bodies but also by the asymmetric shape (oblateness) and the inhomogeneous composition of the central body. In view of this, the effects of a perturbing term that describes a distortion of the central force field on a Keppler orbit is calculated on the basis of Hamilton-Jacobi theory. It is shown that the distortion caused by the term under consideration is analogous to the perturbation caused by the oblateness of the earth.
