The paper presents a qualitative analysis of the penetration of solar wind density inhomogeneities into the magnetosphere and entry layer formation. The proposed mechanism provides a way to determine the penetration depth, the behavior of the transverse polarization electric field, the formation of velocity gradients resulting in plasma velocity fluctuations in the entry layer, and possible formation of a polarization interaction region.
