Magnetohydrodynamic flow past a blunt body in the vicinity of a stagnation line is analyzed. The frozen-in coordinate system is used, in which the coordinate lines coincide with the streamlines, magnetic force lines, and electric potential lines, respectively. The two cases where the stagnation line is transverse to the magnetic field and parallel to the magnetic field are treated separately. Solutions for the normal component of the magnetic field at the magnetopause are obtained. Energy considerations suggest that the solution with transverse stagnation line is more probable.
