New experimental data on the propagation of 1 GHz radio waves through the plasma enveloping the sun and on relationships between radio wave fluctuations and irregularities in plasma concentration are reported. These data were obtained via the Mars-2 space probe in July-Aug. 1972 and via the Mars-7 space probe in June-Sept. 1974. The radio waves monitored traversed 370 to 400 million km, with angular distance between the deep space probes and the center of the sun ranging from 25 to 3 deg. The spectral density of field strength fluctuations is found appreciable at 0.3 to 1 Hz, decreasing above 1 Hz; the characteristic period of the fluctuations falls within 20 to 200 sec.
