Single charged particle dynamics in a simple scale-free time-dependent model for a magnetic field reversal are examined analytically and numerically. The Hamiltonian equation of motion is parameterized to obtain the control parameters alpha and alpha t, and it is shown that in the time-dependent model a transition in behavior will occur at alpha t roughly 1. The role of alpha as the adiabaticity parameter of the system is established, and the behavior for different values of alpha is discussed. Numerically integrated trajectories are presented.
