The evolution of cosmic plasma physics is discussed. General laws governing cosmic plasmas are derived from laboratory and magnetospheric measurements, and applied to solar, interstellar, galactic and cosmological problems. The double layers in cosmic plasmas, the discovery of the inverted V events, the energy transfer in auroral circuits, are discussed in particular. The applications to solar wind-magnetospheric interaction, to cosmology and to solar system evolution are examined. It is shown that the existence of large quantities of antimatter in the universe is quite possible and that the energy release in quasars may be better explained by matter annihilation. Growing doubts about the big bang theory are postulated.
