Oscillatory processes associated with the orientation of a nonrigid satellite relative to the center of mass are considered. In particular, attention is given to the possibility of damping the angular oscillations of an elastic satellite due to internal friction in the material. An analysis is also made of the small three-dimensional oscillations of a gravitationally oriented elastic satellite.
